5 Daily Habits to Age Well & Stay Looking Youthful

I absolutely love when someone thinks I’m in my early twenties when they see me. The first thing they ask me when I reveal that I’m almost forty is, “what do you do to look so young?”

The truth is, there are several factors in how youthful one looks, and sorry to say it, but, genetics play the most important part. Don’t fret too much, there are some habits you can do to stop the aging process or even reverse it, no matter your DNA.

#1. Drink Plenty of H₂0

Water is truly the fountain of youth in itself. It helps to keep your skin hydrated and keeps your organs functioning properly.  It is recommended to drink between 32 – 64 ounces a day. I must admit, I don’t think I drink a total of 64 ounces of anything a day on most days, but my liquid consumption does consist primarily of water (90%).

#2. Moisturize with SPF

Facial moisturizer is a must, and using an actual facial moisturizer after the age of 20 is a greater must. Our facial skin is not as strong as the skin on the rest of our bodies. So, using a body moisturizer isn’t doing much but making your fine lines look bigger as it builds up in your pores. Facial moisturizers are made specifically for the sensitive skin on your face and some have the added benefit of preventing or reducing fine lines. Using an FM with sunscreen helps protect your skin from the aging harms of the sun while giving you the benefits of being a facial moisturizer.

#3. Vitamin E for the Eyes

Using vitamin around your eyes helps to reduce and prevent fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps the overall skin around the eyes to look younger and healthier. You can use a vitamin E stick or use the filling from a capsule to gently apply around the eyes before bedtime.

#4. Eat Healthily

You truly are what you eat, and what you eat can age you. Cut out some of the sugar you are intaking, and this includes soft drinks as well. Add more veggies to your diet, and make sure you are cooking your veggies in a healthy manner. No need to eat more veggies if you’re just gonna pile a load of cheese or butter on them.

#5. Be Active

Being active doesn’t have to mean participating in a traditional exercise. People who are more active tend to look younger than their non-active counterparts. Take daily walks, even if they’re just around your office, go sightseeing, do activities that require you to move. This will not only help with your physical appearance looking younger, it will help with your overall body feeling younger.
